Adding Alexa widget to your Blog/Website

Today I add the Alexa Rank Widgets to my Blog. so I can attention the Alexa Rank of my blog.
About Alexa:Founded in April 1996, Alexa Internet grew out of a vision of Web navigation that is intelligent and constantly improving with the participation of its users.

Along the way Alexa has developed an installed based of millions of toolbars, one of the largest Web crawls and an infrastructure to process and serve massive amounts of data.

Alexa has a Product is Alexa Toolbar.

Alexa could not exist without the participation of the Alexa Toolbar community. Each member of the community, in addition to getting a useful tool, is giving back. Simply by using the toolbar each member contributes valuable information about the web, how it is used, what is important and what is not. This information is returned to the community as Related Links, Traffic Rankings and more.

Want to help? Install the Alexa Toolbar, and tell your friends. The more people use Alexa, the more useful it will be.

Alexa Search and Browse – Alexa has taken search and browse to the next level and made it more complete, more relevant and more useful. Try Search and Browse
Alexa Site Information – Alexa has built an unparalleled database of  information about sites that includes statistics, related links and more. All of this information can be found on Alexa’s Site Overview pages, Traffic Detail pages and Related Links pages. To access these pages, simply type the URL of any site into the Alexa Search box.
Webmaster Services.

Alexa has created a series of tools specifically for web site owners(blogger). These tools can help us to drive trafficmake money, find broken links and more!

Finding patterns in data

The Alexa services are derived from our uniquely powerful combination of Web content and usage information.

Site stats :Alexa gathers Site Stats from a variety of sources to provide key statistics about each site on the web. These include: Traffic Rank and Speed which are derived from Web usage information, and Other sites that link to this site, and Online Since, both of which come from Web content. For an example of Site Stats, see the Alexa Overview page for LOVE DROPS

Contact info: Alexa provides contact information for Web sites by mining for Web content gathered in the crawl. This information includes Site Owner, Address, Phone Number and contact e-mail address. See Contact Info for LOVE DROPS

Traffic details:Web usage information is utilized to provide information about the number of page views and number of users that Web sites receive. This data is also the basis for the Alexa traffic rank and traffic history graphs. See Traffic Details for LOVE DROPS.Our goal for these features is to help people navigate the Web more efficiently by giving them all the information they need to make informed decisions about the sites they visit.

Related Links:Whenever an Alexa Toolbar user visits a web page, the Alexa Toolbar retrieves information from the Alexa servers to suggest other pages that might be of interest to the user. To generate Related Links, we use several techniques, including:
  • The usage paths of the collective Alexa community- this is the most important source of our information, since these paths show us which web sites our users believe are important and interesting.
  • Clustering – the hundreds of millions of links on the Web can be used to find clusters of sites that are similar and relevant to one another. We mine this data by using custom databases to find and identify these clusters.
  • Users’ suggestions – we consider our users’ suggestions to augment our Related Links recommendations.

Mistakes people make on Facebook

1. Logging in from a free public WiFi hotspot. First, there’s the question whether that “Free Public WiFi” network really is a free hotspot generously provided for your use by some benevolent business establishment that’s out to capture your information.

And even if the hotspot is legit, because Facebook uses an insecure sign on protocol, your user name and password could be stolen by anyone sniffing the WiFi network (or by using Firesheep, a program designed to specifically target log-in cookies for popular social networks). Use the Electronic Frontier Foundation’s free HTTPS Everywhere plug in for Firefox to force sites to use encrypted connections.

2.Post too many times a day on Facebook The recommended number of posts for brands is about 1 – 2 posts per day, for media companies, this can be 5 – 10 posts on a daily basis. Another thing is if you post too often on your Facebook page – meaning 5 minutes from each other.
3. Not engaging with people in comments Marketers often forget that you actually have to engage with your fans and respond fans – make sure you do reply people when they have questions, even if they are stupid questions.
4. Arguing with your fans Worst thing is to argue with your fans, if you have an angry fan, make sure he cools down, but do make sure to politically reply.
5.Using your account strictly for promotional purposes. Yeah, we know, people do this on Twitter all the time (and we secretly hate them for it). But if you only use Facebook to drive people to your site/article/cause du jour, you’ll find yourself being quietly unfriended as well as ignored. Make at least half your posts personal and your peeps will find the promos more palatable.
6. Delete negative comments Even if you get super angry, never delete negative comments.
7. Running competitions against the Facebook rules + applicable laws Many companies still actually announce winners, contact them over Facebook, don’t have the proper Terms and conditions, don’t have a data policy and are still storing your details. This is something that is a very common mistake.
8.Posting one type of content Just one type of content – say photos, is typically OK, but make sure that you also post diverse types of content, that is extremely important.
9.Not using applications / tabs The best thing about Facebook is you can create a campaign that will drive and boost your community. So why not create those competitions, campaigns?
10.Not responding to your fans Not responding to your fans in social media, and also responding slow in a crisis, is a mistake. If there is a crisis, your business is affected by, people will be looking out for your support in social media. Make sure that you not only respond, but that you do it fast!
11.Accepting Facebook’s default privacy settings. You can make your public profile almost negligible, thanks to Facebook’s enhanced privacy settings. But Facebook wants and needs you to share your data with the world for its ad model to work, , so its default settings are still pretty generous with your information. Take my advice: Go as private as you can and let the others take the heat.
12.Sending your fans to your site Only sending fans to your site is not the best way of keeping your community really active and sharing. Communities love videos and pictures, but if you just send them links to your page only, that won’t do the trick (unless it’s really relevant content), but always make sure to mix the content.
13. Not using Facebook landing tabs Landing tabs are a very important part of your Facebook page, we have proven that using them makes your page grow over 40% faster, and in recent numbers, even more! Make sure you have them!
14.Getting too personal. Did we really need to hear the intimate details of your latest Jagermeister jag or see photos of your recent colonoscopy? We think not. And neither will your prospective employers (45 percent check out Facebook accounts before hiring, per Carrer builder), college admissions officers (10 percent, per Kapalan), or potential mates. Remember these three letters: TMI.
15.Drunken commenting. You’ve had a few pops, so you log onto Facebook and begin leaving comments on people’s photos and posts. They seem absolutely hilarious at the time, but in the cold hangover light of morning you just look like an ass. May I recommend the Social Media Sobriety Test?
16.Friending people because their profile pictures are hot. I have never done this. I swear. All those bikini models in my friends list are just there because I’m deeply interested in South Florida culture. What’s the downside? Best case: You get inundated with the most banal updates and/or spammy self promotion you can imagine. Worst case: They turn out to be bait for some scammer trying to socially engineer information out of you.
17.Clicking ads inside Facebook Platform games. Because you really don’t know what info those Facegames are sharing with advertisers, despite what they may claim.
18.Being duped by malware. These are typically spread via outrageously titled wall posts like “Justin Bieber just got erection in public”. Curiosity gets the better of you and you click on the link. Instead of a video of Justin’s engorged manhood or bouncing bikini Betties, you get a bad case of Koobface or some other socially borne malware. Worse, that post now becomes part of your wall, tempting your friends to click. If  it’s too outrageous or salacious to be believed, assume it’s malware and move on.
19.Slagging on your boss, co-workers, friends, or significant others. Listen, we all got gripes. But in the meatspace they tend to dissipate over time; on Facebook they’re forever, or as close to it as the digital world generally gets. They may fall harmlessly into the digisphere or they may come back to cause you a world of pain — there’s just no way to know.

Regular Health Mistakes

Regular Health Mistakes
Crossing our legs
Do you cross your legs at your knees when sitting? Although we may believe that this is the lady-like elegant way to sit, sitting this way cuts down circulation to your legs.

If you don’t want varicose veins to mar the beauty of your legs and compromise your health, uncross your legs every time you realize you have one knee on top of the other. The best way to sit is to simply place both legs together on the floor, balancing your weight equally. If you feel like changing position, instead of crossing your legs, simply move both legs together to one side. As an alternative, you could also consider crossing your legs loosely at the ankles. This is a classically elegant way to sit, and is far better for your legs and your health than sitting with your legs crossed at your knees.

Not changing our toothbrush
How often do you change your toothbrush? Most of us wait until most of the bristles have either fallen off, or are in such bad shape that we’d be embarrassed to pull out our brush in public. However, since not many of us need to pull out our brush in public, we carry on with our frayed one until we lose it. Replace your toothbrush often. Damaged bristles can harm the enamel, and don’t massage your gums well. If you find brushing your teeth a pain like I do, but know you must do it, you might as well be doing it right. Imagine going through the annoyance of brushing your teeth twice a day only to find out that you’re damaging your enamel every time you clean your teeth. Also, use a brush with soft bristles unless your dentist has advised otherwise.

Eating out often
There are oils that are high in cholesterol, and oils that cause little harm and are better for your heart. However, no matter how light the oil is, it is never a good idea to eat too much of it. Avoid fried foods. Remember that in all probability your favorite Indian food restaurant throws a huge, HUGE chunk of butter in a tiny bowl of dal. Rita, who worked in the kitchen of a 5 star hotel, was shocked when she saw the cook chop a 500gm butter slab in half, and throw half into a Paneer Makhani dish. No wonder the customers left licking their fingers. And no wonder they felt so stuffed and heavy afterwards. Limit outdoor eating unless you know that you”re getting served light and healthy food.

Skipping breakfast
Never, ever skip breakfast. Remember, when you wake up in the morning it’s been around 10-12 hours since your last meal. Your body needs food now, more than at any other time. Eat a heavy breakfast. You will then be busy through the day, and the calories will get expended quickly. If you are trying to diet, eat a light dinner. Here are some more common health mistakes we make. Being informed and making a few changes can help make us feel a whole lot better.

High heels
High heels sure look great, but they’re murder for your back. This however doesn’t mean you should steer clear of stilettos. Wear them, but not when you know you will be walking around a lot. Wear them when going out for lunch or dinner – when the only walking you will be doing is to your car, to the table, and back. Avoid high heels when you are going somewhere on foot. If you are constantly tempted to wear your heels, take a good look at your flats. Is there something about them you dislike? Invest in a new pair of beautiful flats or shoes with a low heel. Buy something you love, that you will enjoy wearing. If possible, get a matching bag. You will then enjoy your flats as much as you do your heels.

Sleeping on a soft bed
You don’t have to sleep on the floor be kind to your back, but do make sure you have a firm mattress. Although a mattress on springs is soft and lovely to sink into, it’s bad for your back. If you already have an old bed with springs, you don’t need to invest in a new one – simply get a thick wooden plank put over the springs, and place the mattress on the plank. Similarly, if your mattress is old and lumpy, throw it out and get a new one. Your neck and your back will thank you. The same rule applies to sofas. If you will be spending hours on a sofa, get a firm yet comfortable one. Sofas you completely sink into are not the best idea.

Pillows
No matter how comfortable sleeping with ten cushions is, have pity on your neck and resist. Sleep with one pillow, and make sure it is not too thick. If your pillow gets lumpy, discard it and go for a new one. Get a thin pillow if you sleep on your stomach, and something a little thicker if you sleep on your back, to give your neck adequate support

Not exercising
So all of us know we should exercise more, but many of us don’t. This is a health mistake we consciously make! And why is that? Simply because we refuse to admit the damage we are causing to our bodies by not working out. A number of people only start working out once they’ve experienced a warning signal. Don’t wait for a heart attack to strike before you decide to opt for a lifestyle change. Make the change now. You don’t need to train for the marathon to be in top shape. Half an hour of brisk walking three to four times a week will make a world of difference to your health. You could then increase this to forty minutes, four times a week – and you’re all set. If you haven’t exercised for a week, you’re making a mistake.

A nominee is not a legal heir

A nominee is not a legal heir
Only in case of equities will she automatically get the money. Otherwise, she is only a trustee
Ashok Singh had bought an insurance policy in 2000. When he passed away in 2008, his elder son and wife ended in a legal battle because while the son was the nominee, his wife was the legal heir.

Ideally, the nominee and the heir are the same. But if they are different, the law depicts a nominee as only a trustee. This is true for all financial instruments, except shares and debentures. Says Sajid Mohamed, partner at PDS Associates: “If one is a nominee to investments in shares or debentures, he or she has all rights to liquidate the share, even without the legal heir’s permission. That is, a nominee is superior to a legal heir according to the Companies Act.”

Under Section 109A of the Companies Act, if the nomination is made under procedure prescribed by law, he/she will be entitled to become the rightful owner of shares. And, such right shall exclusively favour the nominee and exclude all other persons.

In comparison, Section 39 of the Insurance Act says the appointed nominee will be paid, though he/she may not be the legal heir. The nominee, in turn, is supposed to hold the proceeds in trust and the legal heir can claim the money. Similarly, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines specify the deceased’s nominee would receive the money in the capacity of a trustee of the legal heirs. This applies to other financial transactions like provident fund, mutual funds and so on. In case of property, Section 30 of the Maharashtra Co-operative Society Act says in event of the death of a member of a society, the shares of the deceased will be transferred to the nominee. But, this transfer cannot result in vesting of the flat with the nominee.

The situation can get complex in the absence of a will because it can get difficult for the heir to access the money. If Singh had not made a will, his son could have refused to claim the money from the insurance company till his mother agreed to share the proceeds with him. The reason being, “a financial institution will not hand over the money to anyone but the nominee,” says Mohamed. Lawyers say there are many cases where nominees refuse to collect the money from a financial institution till they are promised a share. Or, like Singh’s son, a nominee will have to fight a case for their share. And, they may be favoured by the court if they are dependent like aged parent, sibling, wife and so on.

If the nominee does not collect the money the legal heir will have to produce a succession certificate from the court to prove that he or she is the heir to be able to get the money. You can produce a copy of ration card, education certificate(s), PAN or passport as relationship proof as all these documents mention either father’s or husband’s name.

And if the nominee (if in the capacity of a trustee, except in case of shares) is dependent on the deceased, then he can file a case for a share in the proceeds, says Ameet Hariani, managing partner at Hariani Company.

Lawyers say in cases where nominee is different from legal heirs it makes sense to have a will in place. That’s why it was easier for Singh’s wife to get the money. Otherwise, nomination to someone who is not a blood relative can be challenged by legal heir, says Hariani.Source Business Standard

Understand Sub-limits In Your Health Insurance Policy

Fwd: Beware Of Sub-limits In Your Health Insurance Policy

Understand Sub-limits In Your Health Insurance Policy

Dear Mr.subhash wadhwa
I hope you have some sort of health insurance policy(also called medical policy, hospitalization policy, etc).
Do you know if your policy comes ‘with sub-limits’ or ‘without sub-limits’?
What does ‘with sub-limits’ mean?
This means that if you are hospitalized, the insurance company has set a limit of how much they would pay for room rent, ICU care, etc. Most of the times, the limit applies to ‘per day’ room rent which would be restricted to 1% or 2% of sum insured. What does it mean?
Say, your sum insured is Rs 2,00,000, and your room rent is restricted to 2% of sum insured. This means that the insurance company would pay only Rs 4,000 (2% of Rs 2 lakhs) per day for room rent.
So, if you opt for a room that costs Rs 5,000 per day and you stay 10 days at the hospital, the insurance company would pay only Rs 4000 per day, ie, Rs 40,000 totally and you have to pay the remaining (5000 – 4000) X 10 = Rs 10,000 yourself.
Similarly, if there are sub-limits for other category of expenses, they also have to be calculated like this.
Therefore, please go through your policy and find out what is the maximum limit you are allowed for various expense categories. Understand this BEFORE you get admitted so that when the hospital asks you which type of room you want, you know which one you should choose.
The hospital would NOT tell you which room you are eligible for because they DO NOT know anything about the policy you have.
There are policies that don’t have any sub limits. If you have one of these policies, then you don’t have such limits to think about. The insurance company would pay for hospitalization expenses up to sum insured in a year.
The policies ‘with sub-limits’ costs less than the policies ‘without sub-limits’.

AN EYE OPENER!!

When the angel of death came to Paul, to accompany him to his real home, Paul dismissively responded “I am not ready to die as I have so much left to do. Do you mind coming back later?”

The Angel replied, sorry your time is up and we must leave now.
Paul enquired, “Don’t you know who I am? I am Joe Smith, one of the richest men in the world.

The Angel nodded “I know all about you as I do everyone else; now hurry along, let’s go.”
Paul pleaded; “if I were to give you 10% of my fortune, which is over a billion dollars, will you turn a blind eye and return a year later?”
The Angel shook his head and replied, “You don’t seem to understand Paul. It is time to go”
For the next few moments, Paul tried his best to negotiate with the angel giving away more of his fortune for lesser time. He finally succumbed and offered “if I were to give you all my fortune, which is 10 billion dollars, will you give me 5 minutes so that I can call my wife and children and tell them that I love them? I have never told them this and it is very important to me that they know how I feel about them. I also need to seek forgiveness from 2 people that I have hurt the most. All I ask is 5 minutes!”
The Angel paused and looked at Paul curiously and asked, “How long did it take you to make your 10 billion dollars?”
Paul replied, “30 years my friend – it took me a whole 30 years – it’s a great deal in exchange for 5 minutes, take it – you will never have to work another day in your life. “
The Angel shook his head and said “I really do not understand you human beings! If you are willing to give up 30 years of your lives’ work for 5 minutes, then why did you not make the most of every minute while you had it? How did you value your time? Where were your priorities? Why did you not say or do the things that really mattered?”
The lights went off a second later, Paul was gone. His 10 billion dollars could not buy him the time to do what really mattered.
